Not sure if anyone has seen this before. Was looking for a new provider for my brothers ADSL and found this on the website. BT InfinityBT are introducing out cable Broadband across the country (this is where your 50p internet tax will be going then......a private company). They say it will do up to 40Mb download (although they expect most people to get between 20 and 30Mb), and heres the beauty, up to 10Mb upload. Unfortunately, although I have checked and I am on a compatible exchange, I cannot have the service yet (I think I just heard Antrobus groan ) Prices are £24.99 a month (18 month contract) for unlimited downloads, subject to the usual download restrcitions that they call 'fair useage' They also do a £19.99 option with a 20Gb download cap, but I cannot see anyone taking that. I have to say, it is the upload speed that interests me the most..... Here's hoping Virgin get scared and start to offer the same service to it is customers.....or BT let me use their's

When i click on your link, and ask if I can get Infinity, I enter my house number and post code. Infinity is not listed, only BT Broadband. However, it says Bury, Gtr Manchester is enabled??

I tried it twice, once with my phone number and once with my address, both results were different. I have a choice of 1.5mb or 2mb As I've said before about BT, waste of time

Well i stated that in the opening post I have spoken to BT today and they say that the exchange is enabled, but they not have actually started to out the service yet...may be a few more weeks or even a month before it becomes publicly avaialble. At the price, i'll be keeping my eye on it for sure. [FTB]MadOne wrote: I tried it twice, once with my phone number and once with my address, both results were different. When you look at what BT actually look after, it amazing it actually works at all.

I dont think Virgin will be worried anytime soon, as soon as BT starts eating into their customer base they will just flick a switch and offer 100mb to anyone who wants it.
Not sure what the maximum bandwidth is that can be supported by fibre-optics but my guess would be more like GB's rather than MB's.
